Celebrating with a card

Hi everyone!

Dani here, back from NYC! Yes, baby! The trip was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!! Now I can't wait to start on my NYC mini-album (remember the cover?). But, before I let I create a simple card to give my husband during our 10th anniversary dinner. Now please remember that he is a man, not a big fan of paper-crafts (he keeps saying that it is his wallet that doesn't like, non-sense!) and I'm no cardmaker (but we do have some AWESOME ones in the DT ;), right!) so here is my simple thanks-for-being-in-my-life card:

Supplies:

We R Memory Keepers - Yellow Washi Tapes
October Aternoon - 9 to 5 Label Stickers
Basic Grey - PB&J 6x6 paperpad
Memory Box - Darla Butterfly

Thanks for stopping by!

Summer Fresh Cards 3

I hope the weather where you are is as lovely and sunny as it is here this week. Please sit back with a glass of something cool and check out what I have to share today.

I have my last two cards from the set I made with the Summer Fresh collection from Simple Stories. If you missed my last two posts you can see the cards I made HERE and HERE.

This line is so easy to work with. The Simple Stories line has various sized elements like 2x12 and 6x4, 3x4 and 6x8, 4x4 and of course 12x12.  it makes it so easy to throw a layout or several cards together in no time flat! Each collection also comes with two 12x12 sheets of stickers; 1 of elements and one of letters and words.

Everything on this card is from the kit except for the few little embellishments I added for dimension but you could definitely make it without them. I love the scalloped border sticker with the denim pattern. For some dimension, I stapled the lace ribbon over top of it with the Tiny Attacher from Tim Holtz.
The little wagon sticker is so sweet! It just screams summer all filled with lovely flowers.  I layered some of the other included stickers to make the sentiment

Other supplies used:

For my last card I used one of my favorite techniques! I embossed the base cardstock. This is such a simple detail to add to any project but I just love the look of it. For this card I used the Garden Flowers embossing folder from Crafts Too.
The main feature of the card, the pocket, is a sticker from the collection. I popped it up to add dimension and cut up strips of the various patterned papers from the kit and made them into little flags that I tucked underneath. I matted a sentiment sticker onto burlap fabric to add some texture and then added another little sticker and a button to tie it all together.

That's all from me for today. I hope you were able to find some inspiration.
Enjoy your week!

Silhouette Vines

Hello!  It's Thursday so it's my turn to post here!  It's Anita from http://craftygrldesigns.blogspot.com/ and I am excited to be here!  Today I have a card to share featuring the 6 by 6 pad Indie Chic Saffron by My Mind's Eye and using a Hero Arts and Sizzix Emboss and Stamp Set Silhouette Vines.  Scrapbooking Cafe Online has quite a few of the Hero Arts and Sizzix Emboss and Stamp sets!  You can see them here.  These sets are really neat!  They come with a stamp set and an matching embossing folder!  I love stamping and love how the dry embossing enhances the stamping!  Here is my card:

Here is a side photo to show the dry embossing more:

I also used heat embossing! It's fun to combine both the heat embossing and the dry embossing!  I heat embossed the Silhouette Vines in chestnut zing embossing powder!  I love heat embossing on patterned paper, I really like the look it achieves! This is actually my first card I've made with this set and it was fool proof!  :>

Hope you've been inspired today!  See you soon!

Vintage cards

Happy hump day all!!  I love making tags but sometimes I don't know what to do with them when they are done so I decided these tags needed to be on a card. I purchased the tags from Staples and decorated them with a stamp set called "Cute as a Button" by There She Goes and inked the edges with Vintage Photo distress ink by Ranger.

Hello NYC!!

Hi everyone! Today I wanted to share my excitement. Friday my husband and I will be heading to NYC (yep, the Big Apple itself) to celebrate our 10th Wedding Anniversary, my favourite detail: NO KIDS ALLOWED!! YAY!!!

So, to get this parted started and already anticipating the gazillion pictures I will take, I started to work on my minibook for the trip. Can you tell that I'm excited? Well, I am!

I promise to share more of the mini-album in weeks to come, OK:

For this mini, I have used:

October Afternoon - 9 to 5
My Mind's Eye - Miss Caroline
American Crafts - Thickers

All the papers are from October Afternoon, but the twine and the wood banner are from My Mind's Eye. It's amazing how these two lines go together! Try for yourself!!!

Summer Fresh Cards 2

It's a new week and I am back as promised with some more cards that I made with the Summer Fresh line from Simple Stories. If you missed last weeks cards, you can see them HERE

My first card I went in a totally different direction than the line would suggest. I left out the flowery, summery patterns and went for a more masculine feel for this card. I loooove the white embossed background!

Other supplies used:

The banner trend has been around for quite awhile and I hope it doesn't disappear any time soon! I love the look of banners. They add such whimsy and fun to any project. And what better for summer?

I used the Homemade collection which would be awesome to use for homemade baked recipes pages and cards etc. I used the pages to create a "regular" page to show you that you can use the themed kits for non themed projects too :)

Mount some of your elements on black cardstock and tear edges to give some texture and make your colours and layers pop!!

Summer Fresh cards

Happy Monday! I was lucky enough to have a three day weekend, so I'm feeling refreshed and ready for a new week!  Today I want to share the first in a series of cards I have made with the Summer Fresh collection from Simple Stories. I am absolutely LOVING this line! I got on a major roll and made a bunch of cards that I want to share with you, but I can't just put them all out at once! I've gotta create some suspence right?!?!

I love how my first card turned out...aren't those strawberry stickers sweet?!? (pun intended) I used burlap to mat the sentiment, it gave the card great texture.

Scrapbooking Cafe Supplies used:
Summer Fresh collection-Simple Stories
Red Twine-Doodlebug
3D adhesives-Scrapbook Adhesived by 3L
Other supplies used:
photo corners
red button
white embroidery floss
felt flower
burlap

A funny little story to go with my second card. I used my sewing machine to stich around the paper with the text on it. I decided to add this detail after I had finished the card so I had to be careful to avoid the embellishments with the machine. Well, while I was being so careful, I didn't unfold the card and I ended up sewing it shut! LOL :) Now my card is a little front heavy but I don't think anyone will be able to tell I made a mistake.

Hello Summer!

Hello!  Happy Thursday!  It's Anita Recksiedler from http://craftygrldesigns.blogspot.ca/ And I am excited to be here!  Is it hot where you are?  It's been a real hot spell here and I am loving every moment!  We have been hitting the beach, the cabin, pools and all other sorts of only summer activities!  Summer is here!  And we have to enjoy every moment as it's short!

Today I have two summery cards to share with you!  They are both using a perfect line for this season by Echo Park, Hello Summer!  I also used some dies by Memory Box!  Scrapbooking Cafe online has quite a few Memory Box dies!

I die cut the Wild Blooms die and used the negative over some bright striped paper from Hello Summer!  I used a Hero Arts sentiment from the Sending Smiles set, isn't this sentiment perfect for summer?  And some orange twine!

For this card I used some patterned and some solid papers from the pad.  I really like how they come with solid papers too since it makes it so much easier to create with!  I used Memory Box's Perched Reed Bird die and the sentiment is from the same set Sending Smiles!  Finished it up with twine!

Hope these two summery cards inspired you today!  Remember that every day of the week we have inspiration here for you using fantastic products that Scrapbooking Cafe Online has for you!

Layouts of my son

I'm a card maker so I buy a lot of 6x6 mini decks.  Occasionally I feel like scrapbooking but never have the giant 12x12 sheets to scrap with so I have to improvise.  Here are two 9x9 layouts I completed using the same 6x6 mini deck (paper pad).
Materials

I used Torico's "Oh Snap" stamp set to make this layout then coloured the images with copics!

As easy as Riding a bike

Today I wanted to share with you a page I made using some inspiration from Pinterest. I saw this cute DYI frame and a light bulb lite on top of my head!

Isn't it awesome? So, I ordered some amazing Spellbinder circles from Scrapbooking Cafe Online and here is what I did:

I've used a 8x10 print from Costco and cut it into pieces so I could run it through my cuttlebug. Then, it was just a matter of putting the "puzzle" back together. With the Spellbinder's dies, I out this page together as easy as riding a bike! ;)

Supplies list!

Bazzil cardstock
Acrylic Paint - White
My Mind's Eye - Wood Banner
October Afternoon - Washi tape 9 to 5
Studio Calico - bicycle wood veneer
American Crafts - Foam Thickers
October Afternoon - Cake Walk Buttons

Have a great week!!

new kitten!

Happy Monday to you all, I hope you had a great weekend. It is HOT HOT HOT where I am, and supposed to stay hot the rest of the week. If it is hot where you are I hope you will grab yourself a glass of something yummy and ice cold and check out what I have to share with you today.

We've had an exciting addition to our little family in the past few weeks. We got a new kitten. My daughter has been dying for a kitty ever since she was tiny (as a matter of fact kitty was her first word!) so she is THRILLED with the new addition. We got her from a local horse ranch where she had been rescued from a log pile. A family of skunks moved in and it looked like her momma moved all the other kittens out of the log pile and left her behind. Some of the ranch hands found her and took care of her for  a few days until a home could be found. They started calling her Paisley and when we met her we thought the name was perfect, so Paisley she is!

The Farmhouse Collection from October Afternoon was perfect for this layout. I love the pattern that says Milk, Butter, and Cream on it, it is just right for a kitten page!
Here are a few close ups...

Indie Chic Meadow Card

Hello everyone!  I am quite excited to be here with my first post as a design team member for Scrapbooking Cafe Online!  :>  My name is Anita Recksiedler and I am from Winnipeg, Manitoba!

I am happily married to Chad and a mom to two great kids a sweet girl who is 6 and a half and a busy boy who is almost 4!  I have been home with my kids but have just joined my husband in real estate!  I love paper crafting.  I mainly make cards but also all other sorts of crafts too!  I started paper crafting 6 years ago to have something that was just for me, a creative outlet.  Paper crafting helps me relive stress and I am one of those people who has to be doing something all the time! This past year has been quite successful with starting to get publications in both Cards and Paper Crafts magazines!  I also am a Paper Crafts magazine Stamping Royalty winner 2012 and a Top 5 for Gallery Idol 2012!  I would love it if you checked out my blog http://craftygrldesigns.blogspot.com/

Today I have a card to share using some products that you can get at Scrapbooking Cafe Online!  I used the new My Mind's Eye Indie Chic Saffron 6 by 6 pad and the Hero Arts Blooming Meadow Stamp:

I stamped with versamark ink the blooming meadow and heat embossed it with white embossing powder on a doily.  Than I sprayed the doily with some tattered angels mist dutch tulip and let it dry.  Adhered the patterned paper from the Indie Chic pad to a cream card and stamped the sentiment from Hero Arts on it in brown ink.  For the ribbon I used seam binding and sprayed it with tattered angels mist in pink poodle and let it dry.  Assembled the card and there you go!

I hope that you enjoyed my card today! I will be back next Thursday but another one of the design team with be here tomorrow! Be sure to subscribe by email or by blogger follower to this blog because each week day the design team have something creative to share with you!  You don't want to miss out!  Hope it's sunny where you are!
