I completed this layout for both the Sketchabilities Challenge #132 and the Let's Get Sketchy - January Week 2 Challenge. For this week I tried returning to my own style a bit more, but also tried a new technique I saw where the photo was layered up from underneath with ephemera. I'm not sure I got the result I was fully expecting, but I do like it. Perhaps some more practice in this area.....

Again, the photo is one I found on pinterest that I just really liked and went so well with the "Anthem" paper line from Bo Bunny.

Winter Queen

Okay, confession time - I'm struggling a bit with this style. I wanted to try and emulate a style I see a lot of people creating some beautiful work with, but I have yet to master the technique to my satisfaction. Perhaps I should be trying to stick more to my style and adopt smaller elements of new ideas, rather than biting off more than I could chew from the start. I'm a big paper collection user so my preferences tend to lean more towards brighter, busier layouts. I'm not giving up....just trying to figure out the best approach.

The picture I printed from Pinterest, and I thought it was beautiful, and perfect for this white space layout. But I have a love-hate relationship with this layout. I like the left side...I think....but I think there's a design disconnect between it and the bottom right corner. I went wrong when the glitter ritz I used on the bottom layer was darker than I thought and the color blue didn't match up. And again, I'm new to this whole "spray splatter" idea. While I love the concept and a lot of people produce some beautiful work, I have yet to master the technique to my satisfaction.

Fall in Love

For this layout, I wanted to try a new technique showcased by Julie Balzer using Viva Inka Gold on black cardstock. I love the dramatic look it gives a layout, and it's a really fun product to work with. I hope you like it as well. Life is a Beautiful Journey

It might have been better if I had named this layout "Life is a Beautiful Accident", because that's totally what this layout started out as.

I had a vision, I wanted to use the My Mind's Eye Lost & Found Union Square paper line to create a cut-out background as my base. So I pulled out the paper and ran it through my Silhouette Cameo (how I ever lived without this machine I will never know!). But....the background I ended up with was too delicate. It didn't fit "the vision", and now I had used an entire piece of paper and created something I might never use. So.....I downloaded an individual shape pattern and created my own, more spacious background instead using the Silhouette Studio software and my trusty Cameo. Voila! Vision achieved.

Then I wanted to stencil over the top layer using a lovely Memory Box damask stencil. So I pulled out my grey and black paint, but fortunately, before I could apply paint to paper I decided that would be too dark. So I grabbed a nice crimson red instead. I sponged my paint with different pressures through the stencil and I was a bit skeptical about the result at first, but I pressed on.

I added my other paper layers, also from the Union Square paper line, distressed the edges and added my photo and I was really liking the direction, but something was still missing. And then I pulled out the original background paper I had cut......what a great little extra layer of dimension it added, by snipping out pieces of it and applying them. And then, I got extra points by using the negative bits left over from the original background cuts. I sponged the edges of them, popped them up on pop dots, and adhered them in little groupings around the photo. Below is a photo of the tile pop ups:

Hey folks - I'm back with another 12x12 layout for you. Clearly the weekends are turning out pretty productive for me lately.

This picture is just so pretty, with the pastel tones and country cottage feel, that I knew I just wanted to put it in a layout. I know my style can sometimes be a bit busy, so I tried to dial back a bit on the embellishments this time round and I think the result is pretty successful. Hope you like it too - comments are welcome :D

I also used the E6000 Spray Adhesive glue for the first time. Although it took me a bit to get the pump on it working properly, once I did I have to say this stuff is soooooo easy to use, and makes gluing on those pesky intricate dies so much easier. I will definitely be pulling this out more often.

I have a confession - I love to scrapbook, but I'm not a great photographer and sometimes you have a paper pack that just cries out to be used but you have no photos to use with it. In those instances I will sometimes print a nice picture I have found online, just for the sake of being creative and adding a pretty layout to my personal album. Such is the case here.

I was inspired to do this layout by Gabrielle Pollacco (see her layout and video tutorial here). You will probably see a lot of similarities between the two because I absolutely loved her layout - but I also tried to make it a bit my own.

 I am loving the distressed style right now so you might see it on a lot of my layouts in the future. This combines a bunch of different paper brands, some inking with stamp pads and acrylic paint, and then lots of fun embellishments. I hope you like it.

Fabulous Fall layout

Here we are on another lovely holiday Monday. This holiday has been brought to us by the brave men and women who fought for the freedom we enjoy today; and for that I am truly thankful. Lest we Forget.

Last week I shared a tag with you, if you missed that post, you can check it out here.  This week, I promised that I would show you what I decided to do with it. So here it is...

I made a pretty simple layout because I wanted the photo to stand out. I started with the base wood grain paper from My Minds Eye and then mixed some Simple Stories papers from their 6x6 pads. I used Harvest Lane and FabUlous.

See that wood grain brad and orange button below the tag? Well they are both covering up seams where I had to piece papers together.  I just love the smaller patterns that come in the 6x6 pads but obviously the papers are too small to go the length of a traditional 12x12 layout. That's OK! I just cut two strips and overlapped them slightly. I used the embellishments to cover up the seams so they are not so noticeable. The orange damask paper is also two pieces from a 6x6 pad, but the tag covers up that seam...easy peasy!

Hi everyone! Dani Donner here today to share a page made with my beloved Silhouette Cameo and some Crate Paper - Acorn Avenue.

I have soft spot for bright colors, Pinterest quotes, my Cameo and my boys, so this page actually sums up all things that make me feel warm and fuzzy inside... I have to admit that Acorn Avenue is truly awesome, perfect for boys and girls. So here is my page:

To make the page even more colorful I used lots of Glimmer Mist splatters, adding a confetti effect. Just unscrew the lid and let the paint drip where it wants! I have to admit I LOVE this technique...

Make Believe...

Hi, everyone! Dani here to share another project using Macho Nacho from Jillibean Soup. The "A" sides of the papers are beyond cool with their ties and TV sets, but this time I wanted to show you what you can achieve using only the "B" sides. Even tough you can't see yourself using those amazing Mustaches (Ha, I love them to pieces!), you can use the same papers to create something like this:

All it took me was a huge amount I don't know how I was able to do it little bit of patience, some glue and my sewing machine. Here are some details:

oh snap!

Welcome to October! I'm still not quite sure where September went, but that seems to happen to me every month. Anyways, today I have a layout to share with you that I made using the Everyday Eclectic line from Echo Park. I absolutely LOVE this line!! I received it quite awhile ago but I just finally got a chance to work with it this past weekend. I made this layout and 2 cards already and I can't wait to do more!

I have had this photo of my daughter and I from a wedding a few years ago on my desk for a long time waiting to be scrapped, when this line came along I knew it was perfect.

I didn't have any black mist so I made my own with some black acrylic paint I had laying around. It was really easy. I simply put a dollop of black paint on a tray and added water until I got the consistency I wanted. I used a small paintbrush to flick the black onto the paper to make spatters.

I stamped the date once at full ink strength and then stamped it off a few more times until the ink wore off. I like the look, it adds to the shabby/messy vibe that the layout has going on.

School Days

Hi Scrapbooking Cafe Online Fans, Im here today to share a layout featuring Authentiques Curiosity, Its funny as I didn't realise this was a themed collection when I ordered it... I loved the colours so much.
It has a funky school theme to it and not in the true traditional school theme colours which I LOVE I find most school collections are very bright. This one is nice and mellow with great designs.

I created a layout with the collection and added a few Prima's and Tim Holtz embellishments Lastly some Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze I dont think Kristy stocks the glaze yet but maybe we should ask her... :)

Hello friends! Becky here with you from Scrap Circus. I have a sweet little baby layout to share with you today using Crate Paper's Little Boy Blue line. I absolutley love this line! It comes with many other colors including green, yellow, brown and grey but I decided to focus on the blue and red for this layout.

 I printed my journaling out on the computer using my favorite font called Vintage Typewriter. I cut up the journaling into strips and attached them to my page.

 I love to cluster groups of different embellishments. It adds great texture and dimension to the layout.

Simply The Best

Hi Scrapbooking Cafe Fans I am sharing some more October Afternoon today :) I love this collection it's called Woodland Park I know Kristy is finding it VERY hard to keep this one in stock so if you need it (which you so do) Grab it NOW... if it's gone ask to go on Kristy's wait list :)

So Woodland Park I love October Afternoon I saw this release just before the Summer CHA and knew I had to have it right away but unfortunately I had to test my patience :) But it's here now and it was well worth the wait.

I love my two girls to pieces to me they really are the best I could wish for. so thats where I come up with the title they are Simply the Best :) Of course my Son is pretty awesome too but thats another page :)

I used a black fine tip pen to outline the letters of the title.

 I also layers the paper strips with ribbon those of you who know my style now know that I LOVE texture.

Sweet Day

Hi ladies, Its Zoe here again today with a post featuring Echo Park Sweet Day... I love these papers lots of the recent trends like the hexagons, air balloons and clouds, I can never get enough of the hexagons!!! Love them... who would have known that hexagons would take off, I mixed my hexagons in the paper with a hexagon background I found from the Silhouette store, I have finally unpacked my Silhouette from my big move and now wonder why I didnt do it sooner... I like to cut out a few designs in one go and incorporate them into my layouts as I go, I would be too lazy to cut for each and every layout I do!!!

I love the designs of the element stickers in this kit. Layer them up with foam squares or dots for added dimension.

Tutu Princess

Hi Ladies today I am sharing with you a layout with Prima papers... I just received this week the new Prima lines from Kristy and I just LOVED this Tea Thyme one I had to jump into it right away.

If you love romantic papers and shabby chic then this collection is for you, there are lots of sweet flower patterns to cut out and little labels that you can layer too. I went overboard with my embellishments :) I have recently moved and I am finding things I really never thought I had so its like a surprise each time I go rummaging into a new box!!

Great Wolf

Hi, everyone! Dani here to share with you my greatest passion at the moment: mists and anything ink/paint/watercolor related! I have to say that this more artsy trend in scrapbooking got a hold of my heart... *sigh* I just love the look and the texture added to all those techniques, so... I created a LO using ALL-OF-THEM! :D

For Mothers day this year we got to take the whole family to Great Wolf in Niagara Falls! We had so much and the weather helped! A warm day in May allowed us take a picture outside! In T-shirts, people!! The boys want to go back for their birthdays, lol!

I have misted and added a thin layer of white paint to mute the colour a little bit. For teh title, I used my water colors on some American Crafts fabric thickers, creating an Ombré effect (cool, huh!).
